And don’t forget to stop by the sea turtle exhibit and watch a short video filmed on Ocean Isle Beach about the life cycle of the loggerhead turtle, the exhibits the mother turtle laying eggs and the hatchlings crawling to the sea.

Shallotte River Swamp Park

The Old Sunset Beach Bridge
Visit the Museum at the Old Sunset Beach Bridge and see the re-creation of the Bridge Tender’s office. Enjoy historic displays telling the story of the blockade runner Vesta which ran aground here 150 years ago.
Listen to a bridge tender as he talks about operating the bridge, see videos as boats go through the bridge, and imagine yourself sitting at the desk in the office.
Take a trip back in time and learn what blockade runners did during the Civil War. See the cargo they carried, hear about the risks they took, and see a shell fired when the Vesta ran aground.
The Old Bridge Preservation Society also hosts holiday and summer events for kids, with crafts, food, and educational activities!
