Thought day camp is just for kids? Join Oak Island Parks and Recreation from June 18th to June 22nd as we experience the best recreational activities on Oak Island. This fun packed week is Oak Island’s first summer camp for adults, and will sell out! The week will be full of activities such as: Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), Kayaking, Sailing, Learning the History of Oak Island, Lighthouse Tour, Fishing, and even playing a round of Pickleball. Pre-registration is required.

Adult Day Camp is for Ages 21 and Older $100 Town of Oak Island Residents & $150 Non-Residents. Registration begins May 1st, at 8 am, the Oak Island Recreation Center or online at oakisland.recdesk.com

Calabash Summer ConcertsThe Calabash Summer Concert Series is here to liven up your Tuesday nights! The concerts start at 6 pm and feature some great beach and rock and roll music–perfect for a summer evening! The concerts start on June 5th and go through August 7th, 2018 (the full schedule is posted below.)

Concerts will be held at Calabash Town Park located at 868 Persimmon Rd. So grab some beach chairs and your dancing shoes and come on out! All concerts are free! There will food trucks with food available for purchase.

Lookout Air Raid: The Day Japan Bombed Oregon @ Museum of Coastal Carolina

This program is presented by Barbara Buchanan, a photographer, videographer, and writer who travels the globe. She has worked on diving expeditions, including the exploration of Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne”s Revenge. For this program, she will talk about the Japanese shipwreck, Akibasan Maru. The only two Glen aircraft remains that are known to exist in the world reside in the cargo holds of this shipwreck. The Glen aircraft is the only aircraft type to bomb the U.S. mainland.

Every Tuesday this summer beginning June 12th through August 14th at 6:00 pm the Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection patrol team conducts weekly educational sessions. This program focuses on the lifecycle of the sea turtle, nesting, and how the program aids in the preservation of sea turtles.

Turtle Talks take place at the Oak Island Ocean Recreation Center, 3003 E Oak Island Dr., Oak Island, NC.

Monday Turtle Talks at the Museum of Coastal Carolina

Join one of the weekly turtle talks, Monday afternoons at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on 21 East Second Street.

The Monday Turtle Talks begin May 28th, 2018. The turtle talks are free with regular admission to the museum.

Tuesday Turtle Talks begin starting May 29th, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Ocean Isle Beach Community Center located at 44 E 1st on Ocean Isle.  Please join us for this free Turtle Talks each week.

*Please Note: There will be no Turtle Talk on Tuesday, July 3rd.

Waterfront Farmers Market @ Fort Johnston-Southport Museum Lawn

You can browse the beautiful local produce, baked goods and handcrafted items spread under ancient live oak trees. The Southport Waterfront Market is held on the Fort Johnston Garrison Lawn every Wednesday morning from 8 am until 1 pm, May 2nd (first Wednesday in May) through August.
