Come to Backyard Explorers! the first and third Saturday of each month. The program will dive program dives into local species and ways to investigate your backyard through animal tracks, trail cameras, and more. This fun, interactive program is family friendly and will leave you with ways to explore at home.
On Feb 4, we will feature butterflies and moths. Join us to learn the differences between these two and where they can be found in your own backyard. Discover what types you can identify in your area, no matter if it’s in your backyard or at your favorite park.
On Feb 18, we will hold our Great Backyard Bird Count! Celebrate birds by watching, counting, and learning about the different species of birds that are found in our region. Come learn various ways you can participate from your own backyard with some helpful apps through your smartphone. Whether you are an expert or not, this program is designed for anyone.
Visit us each Saturday at 11:00 am for family programs designed by Jamie Justice, the Education Manager for the Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium, who oversees all family programs. Justice received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Science in Environmental Science with concentrations in Marine and Coastal Education and Coastal Management from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at 21 East Second Street in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Admission is free for members. Non-member all-day admission effective March 31, 2022 is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (62+), $8 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
