Sandbar Lecture: Outdoor Learning

 Bald Head Island Conservancy Senior Coastal Educator Jennifer Wiggen will describe the benefits of outdoor education, including physical and mental health.  Wiggen will also inspire curiosity about local barrier island ecosystems and discuss the Conservancy’s research, wildlife stewardship, and island sustainability programs.

Wiggen graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a M.S. in Marine Science. While there, she interned with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Center. She later earned her Ph.D. in Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Science and completed a postdoctoral research and teaching position in Geoscience Education at NC State University.
