On September 23rd homeschool families are invited to spend the day at the Ingram Planetarium and Museum of Coastal Carolina, which will feature activities scheduled especially for them. Located just four miles apart, families can plan their day around one or both facilities.
Ongoing activities at the Museum will include interactive exhibits on animal adaptations, life cycles, food webs, and animal habitats in addition to Museum exhibits. The Brunswick County Library will also be on site, sharing resources tailored for homeschool families.
Scheduled programs at the Museum include:
10:30 a.m. – STEM Career Expo (5th grade and up)
11:30 a.m. – Turtle Time! (3rd–5th grade)
12:30 p.m. – Hoppers and Leapers (K–2nd grade)
In addition to hands-on exhibits in the Planetarium’s Science Hall, scheduled programs include:
10:30 a.m. – Forces and Motion (K–3rd grade)
11:30 a.m. – Light Waves (4th–6th grade)
12:30 p.m. – Matter and Gravity (6th–12th grade)
Families can also register to view one of the Planetarium’s full-dome shows:
11 a.m. – Earth, Moon, and Sun (K–3rd grade)
12 p.m. – Cosmic Colors (4th–6th grade)
1 p.m. – Dark Matter Mystery (4th grade and up)
Admission is $8 per student and $6 per adult for either the Museum or the Planetarium. Families can purchase a combo ticket for just $5 more to access both facilities. Planetarium admission includes one full-dome show of choice.
