Enjoy an entertaining and educational presentation at the Museum of Coastal Carolina. The Sandbar Lecture Series brings local experts to speak about topics ranging from our coastal environment to Outer Banks history. Join Victoria Oliva from the National Weather Service for a presentation on hurricanes and other coastal hazards. Hurricanes bring many hazards to the Carolina coast, including storm surge, inland flooding due to heavy rain, tornadoes, strong winds, rip currents, and large waves. Oliva will cover various threats and resources such as hurricanes, local and national forecast products, and tips to help you prepare for the hurricane season. Non-tropical coastal hazards will be covered as well, including coastal flooding, waterspouts, and beach safety.
