On Tuesday, May 10 at 6:00 pm, join North Carolina writer Dr. Ashley Oliphant, a well-known fossil shark tooth expert as she shares about topics ranging from the New Orleans pirate Jean Laffite to Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett.
Dr. Ashley Oliphant is a retired Full Professor of English and the author of four books. Event will be at The Museum of Coastal Carolina on nearby Ocean Isle Beach.
“Shark Tooth Hunting on the Carolina Coast,” is the only color guide to fossil shark teeth found in the Carolinas. “Hemingway and Bimini: The Birth of Sport Fishing at ‘The End of the World,'” follows Hemingway’s 1930’s fishing adventures in Bimini, the westernmost Bahamian island. Her third book, a novel titled “In Search of Jimmy Buffett: A Key West Revival,” tells the story of an English professor who moves to Key West and hopes to meet her hero. Her most recent book, co-authored with Beth Yarbrough, is titled “Jean Laffite Revealed: Unraveling One of America’s Longest Running Mysteries.” The book offers a new theory about the fate of mysterious New Orleans pirate Jean Laffite.
Join Dr. Oliphant for a fun and engaging presentation about her full body of work, including some of the latest research discoveries she has made about Laffite’s fascinating connections to North Carolina.
