Bald Head Island Cruise
Lets depart about 11 am in the Mako from Sheffield’s Seafood and Grocery and ride 22 nautical miles to the docking system at Fishy Fishy Restaurant on the water at the quaint fishing village of Southport. At Fishy Fishy (a Key West themed restaurant) we will have lunch overlooking the water, but along the way we will see many shrimp boats, some dolphin, lots of waterway mansions, hundreds of marsh birds of all types, people clamming and crabbing, yacht’s traveling the waterway, and on-the-water restaurant options for later trips. Once leaving Fishy Fishy, we will cross 3 nautical miles over the Cape Fear River shipping channel where 500 foot container ships enter the Inland Waterway from the ocean, and we will then precede on over to Bald Head Island (www.baldheadisland.com) and dock for 3 hours while you visit the Bald Head Island Lighthouse (closed on Monday only, and at 4pm each day) and climb to the top of that historic landmark and visit the Museum and shops. If you want to stay longer at Bald Head, you could go shelling or bike riding or kayaking on this secluded, no cars, only golf carts, exclusive get-a-away island for the rich and famous. Special compliments of the Follow Me Two to you are free boat docking at Bald Head Island Marina and free passes for everyone to climb the Lighthouse up the 108 winding vertical steps. Coming back, we may take the ocean route if the ocean is calm, or we’ll backtrack the scenic route we took initially. I’ll provide brochures and maps about Bald Head once we depart OIB and I will accompany you as needed as a guide on Bald Head. All total, this is a wonderful outing for the family or friends, especially if you have never visited the secluded, picturesque Bald Head Island. Price of this trip is $90 per hour (for the boat) for up to 6 persons.
Sunset Cruise
Lets depart about 7 pm in the Mako from Sheffield’s Seafood and Grocery and ride 7 miles East to Lockwood Folly Inlet. Along the way you can enjoy your wine and cheese or pizza or whatever you bring on board for dinner, or rather than eating, simply enjoy the trip as you will see many shrimp boats, some dolphin, lots of waterway mansions, hundreds of marsh birds of all types, people clamming and crabbing, and yacht’s traveling the waterway. Coming back, we’ll backtrack the scenic route we took initially, except we’ll do it after sunset, perhaps even when it is dark. We’ll take in the sunset itself if it is not cloudy. Being on the waterway after dark is memorable. With our Mako’s Sirius Radio system and excellent speakers, we can listen to any type of music you desire on this trip. If the ocean is calm, we may even exit Shallotte Inlet going and view Ocean Isle Beach from the sea. All total, this is a wonderful outing for the family or friends. Price of this trip is $90 per hour for the boat (up to 6 persons).
